I am pediatric dietitian specializing in nutritional counseling for kids and families. I combine principles of positive parenting with sound nutritional advice to help your child develop a healthy, balanced relationship with food.
I offer private nutrition counseling to children and families in New York City and Westchester. I also work alongside a team of pediatric endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, and mental health professionals at Mount Sinai Medical Center based in Manhattan. My approach is one that avoids endorsing diets or following strict food rules. Instead, I help parents identify specific goals for their child and together we develop a plan that includes a positive, effective approach to eating that supports them both physically and emotionally. My goal is to help parents raise eaters who have a nourishing relationship with food that will last throughout their lifetime.
In addition to working with families, I also speak and write about the challenges and triumphs I face feeding my own kids in a diet and food obsessed world. My mission is to help shift the focus of parents and pediatric practitioners from the WHATs of feeding to the HOWs, which means understanding that raising a truly nourished child is not about a ‘perfect' diet or specific body shape or size. Instead, it’s about growing children that feel good about food and eating regardless of the unique circumstances they may face.
I have a Master’s in Public Health Nutrition (MPH) and am a registered dietitian (RD), certified dietitian/nutritionist (CDN) and certified diabetes educator (CDE). In recent years, I’ve worked and trained at multiple centers of excellence, including the Center for Childhood Health & Resiliency, the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Blythdale Children’s Hospital, Mount Sinai Medical Center and BALANCE Eating Disorder Treatment Center. In those roles, I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of children and families facing a variety of nutritional challenges. In my current clinical role, I provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for families struggling with endocrine-related diseases and conditions.
Prior to becoming a nutrition professional, I worked for over a decade as a health editor and writer. My work has appeared in a variety of magazines including Cooking Light, Family Circle, Fitness, Latina, Reader's Digest, Real Simple, Redbook, SELF, Today's Dietitian, Weight Watchers, Woman's World and more.
