Are You Ready?
You deserve to feel good about your decision to commit to—and invest in—nutrition therapy. The answers to these four questions can help you decide if you’re ready! Grab a pen and paper before you start.
1. What is the change you’re hoping to see?
Be specific. If you were to invest time, money, and energy into nutrition counseling, what is the change you’d like to see? If you’re unsure, jot a quick brainstorm list without thinking about it too much. Then review and circle your top three, then of those, pinpoint the one change that is most important to you right now. Being very clear on your goal will make a huge difference when it comes to your success.
2. What are the benefits?
If you invest time and energy in making this change happen, how will life change? What benefits will you enjoy? Be specific and list as many as you can think of now as well as what can happen in the future.
3. What is the cost?
Not what is the $$ cost—what are the bigger costs, say to your health, well-being, relationships, and emotional health—to you or your family if you don’t take action towards making a change right now? If you don’t take action now, where might you be with this problem at this time next year?
4. What is holding you back?
If you want to make a change and still feel unsure, try to identify what your fears or concerns, beliefs, or limitations are right now. Jot them down. Understanding the specific things that are getting between you and your goals is one of the most important steps you can take when it comes to overcoming them.
